Sensei Bailey Cheek

 

Bailey Cheek 74 years old, of Pembroke Pines, received his black belt in the United States of America GoJu Federation on June 20, 2007.  Bailey has been studying karate since his retirement in 2001. As a member the USAGF, he was promoted with his long time friend Mitch Frucht, and four others to the rank of Shodan; in a ceremony that was held at the Cooper City Community Center.

Bailey was an electrical contractor before retirement with his own business for 30 years in Fort Worth, Texas, and later with Dynalectric Company in Miami. As an electrical contractor, Bailey saved the life of one of his employees as the man was being accidentally electrocuted. While in Fort Worth, he organized the Everman Little League Football Association and the Everman Youth Association. He is a past President of the Loins Club and the Jaycees in Everman, was also a member of the Everman School Board  for 9 years, and served as a Trustee and Chairman of the Everman Methodist Church for 18 years. He is a  member of the Poly Masonic Lodge, the Moslah Shrine in Fort Worth, the VFW and a Veteran of the Korean War while serving 4 years in the Navy.
